Camp Life
I really lucked out getting into Tomonaka! I have had some really nice chats with a few of the girls, and everyone seems to get along so far. I am a little concerned about the other fellas in our group; none of them have posted their screen names, so I haven't been able to talk to any of them yet.
Ibrehem not even posting his pre-game survey also worries me. The odd thing about this is he has been on the site every night since the game started, so he must know stuff is going on...maybe he's just not interested? Blake hasn't done much more than Ibe, but at least he's made a few posts in his confessional.
Charlie seems to be dedicated to the tribe, but he hasn't even tried making contact with me yet. I know it is still really early in the game, but hopefully he starts mingling soon, so we can get to know him.
Christa, Jaime, and Kelly are all awesome girls as far as I can tell. I had some really nice conversations with them, and I got to know a bit about their real lives. I didn't want to initiate any kind of strategy talk yet, I'm going to wait a bit for that. I'm hoping that maybe one of these girls will approach me about an alliance, but for now, it's just been some innocent socializing.
I did have a chat with Brooke, but it was very hard to have a conversation with her. She was probably just distracted, but it was quite awkward; I'll have to try chatting with her again, and maybe we'll click a little better.
Challenge
When I first read the Challenge, I was a little overwhelmed. My first impression was that I'd have to post for hours and hours over and over again, but then I saw where the strategy came in. I'd make a chunk of posts, and then Eliza (my opponent) would post until she was ahead of me, then it was my turn, etc.
We actually ended up being the most competitive pair in the Challenge, with our combined post count being quite a bit bigger than anyone else's. I've got to say I'm kind of relieved it was me that got paired up with Eliza, because I was able to check the site frequently and keep one step ahead of her. I'm not sure that the others in Tomonaka would have been able to keep up with her.
I've got to say, I was a little disappointed in a lot of the players though; less than fifty posts...really? It takes no time at all to stack your post count, so I'm not sure what that was all about. Obviously people were being cautious about sticking out too much, not wanting to go overboard, but dang. In future mix-ups, the merge, or whatnot, challenge threats could be easy targets, but I'm not going to let that stop me being an asset to my tribe. I play to win, there's no two ways about it.
We were actually losing the challenge until the last half hour. At 7:30, Brooke came online and passed up Courtney, giving us the winning point instead of Purago. Originally, I was thinking Brooke may have been a dud like Iberehem, and then BAM, she showed up and won the challenge for us. It was definitely a nice surprise.
I'm sure us winning may have upset some players on the other tribes, since we are the team that has the one person that did not even compete in the challenge. I'm assuming the other tribes will just end up eliminating the people that really didn't pull their weight in the challenge. I'm thinking maybe Mikey in Kalin, and Danielle or Parvati in Purago?
General Thoughts
I've got to say, this game has already got me hooked! I am checking this website almost compulsively right now, making sure I don't miss anything. I sure hope I can stick around for a while, I am having a blast!
One odd thing did happen, though. I received a private message from Jenna, who is on the Purago tribe. It was a pretty generic message, which I'm sure she sent to several players, but I'm not sure what the rules are when it comes to Online Survivor and talking to people in the other tribes. I did reply to her message, but it was harmless, nothing strategic or anything like that.
