Before I start talking about Majuro, I'll talk a little about who I am. My name is Jasen Anderson, I'm sixteen years old, and I live in South Carolina. My brother, sisters, and I are home schooled, which is good and bad I guess, and I help my dad at his job from time to time. I love being outside, especially when the weather is as nice as it has been, so most of the time I'll be on my laptop by the pool when I'm playing this game.
I actually found out about online Survivor through Youtube. I was trying to find some Survivor videos, and then stumbled onto an introduction to a Survivor season that wasn't ever on TV. It had a link to one of these types of sites, and that's how I found out that people actually play Survivor on the computer.
I've only seen a couple seasons of Survivor, but I think the show is awesome, so once I found out that even I could try being the "Sole Survivor", I decided to sign up. This is the first website I came across that hadn't started yet, so BAM, I put my name down.
I actually did have a nice long chat with a different host, about this world of "ORGs", and I learned a ton. She informed me that 99% of the players in these games have played in several previous seasons, so I need to be careful about people already knowing each other. This also made me nervous being a "Survivor Virgin" because people in my tribe may not think I'll be able to do much since I've never played this before.
That's when I decided I might want to tell people I have played at least a couple games in the past, so they aren't too worried about me being clueless. I guess once I start having conversations with people I'll have a better idea how I should handle it.
I've spent a TON of time these past couple of days looking at games that have already finished, trying to get a feel for how these things go. It looks like there isn't any kind of "reward" system, it's mainly just immunity challenges and tribal councils. The good news is I'm pretty familiar with how forums work, so I at least know how to make posts, send messages, and stuff like that.
One thing that caught me off guard was the host changing the number of contestants. I was under the impression that these things were preplanned before the game ever started, but I guess the hosts make it up as they go along? This is going to be very interesting!
I'm not really sure why we have confessionals, if no one can even see them, but I guess it's like a diary so I can look back after the game is over and see where I screwed up! ;D
So, let's talk about Majuro! I love that I was put into a tribe with a mixture of boys and girls. I get along pretty good with guys and gals, so as long as I pull my weight, I think I can make it. I've been watching how many people have been coming and going on the website, because that host I talked to said that a lot of times people will sign up for these things and never come back, meaning we could have a "dud" on my tribe or someone else's.
Everyone from my tribe has been on in the past 24 hours, except Jaime. She hasn't been on the forum since she signed up, so she doesn't even know there is a challenge tonight! I sure as heck hope she gets on soon, because we're going to need everyone if we want to succeed.
The only player I've talked to so far is Boston Rob. He got my AIM screen name from my profile on here, so we had a nice little chat. We didn't really talk much about this game, since it hadn't even started yet, but I did find out he's actually a host for another game! If he can run one of these things and play in one, he's obviously pretty smart, so I'm going to keep my eye on him!
My strategy in this game is to be as competitive as I can, keep my tribe united, and stay as honest as possible in the process. Sometimes the liars actually do manage to get to the end in Survivor, but it's really risky because if anyone catches on to you being deceitful, you are toast! I figure if I do well in the challenges, my tribe will keep me around, and I'm going to try to get to know everyone as soon as I can, so I can hopefully get into a nice strong alliance.
As far as the challenge tonight, the timing is kind of bad because it is my brother's birthday today, and we are having a big dinner and stuff, but hopefully I'll be able to pop on in time to kick butt in the Immunity Challenge. I guess that's it for now; I will make another entry once I start meeting people and all that.
